False Lashes

Look great as they can add length and more volume, especially for a fabulous, wide-eyed look.

Individual lashes are more natural in appearance and when placed on the outside edge of eye with a good coat or two of mascara combining natural and false lashes together can give a glamorous finish to a great party make-up.

Strip lashes by nature are usually more dramatic when applied, although you can find styles that are quite fine, similar to individual lashes. You don’t have to use the entire strip, you can cut off a third and place on outer eye for drama.

False lashes usually come as a pair and have a left and a right lash. This is because your inner lashes are shorter than your outer lashes.

Try not to apply the longer end on the inner lashes as it will not look normal. To apply, you’ll need to cut to the length required. To find the right length, hold against the base of your lashes, they will usually be about 2mm longer. Remove false lash from eye area.

Cutting false lashes

Never cut lashes on or near your eyes

Hold eyelash on fingertip, with small nail scissors cut inner or outer lash end from strip side, not lash, side as you can snip off the lash tips.

Which end you cut depends on the lashes you have as there are many different lengths and shapes. If for example, you wanted the length to be the focus on the outside edge then you would cut from the inner end of lash, keeping the length on the outer end.

Use lash glue to apply, paint onto the strip side of the lash, wave in air for a second so glue is tacky, not wet.

Place glued strip side right at the base, onto the skin of the eyelid, above your natural lashes.

Use the end of a brush handle to press one end of lash into skin while your fingers hold the other end of eyelash in place till it dries.

This takes time and patience, being extremely careful not to stick anything into your eyes when applying false lashes.

Lash Curlers

Heated lash curlers are battery operated with a mascara-type wand, once heated, move the wand through your lashes holding for a few seconds as you slowly move out to the lash tip, giving fantastic results. It can be used after mascara.

Scissor handled and plastic one-handed lash curlers have rubber strips which shape your lashes. Place tool over base of lashes, pressing lashes together, hold for few seconds, opening and closing the tool on lashes as you move out towards lash tip. Best to use before mascara.
