Apply Concealer
Concealers provide what light or sheer foundations can't, they hide imperfections. A panstick or heavier cream foundation can sometimes be used to hide imperfections. At the same time as being a foundation, because they contain a lot of pigment.A cream concealer gives a light to medium coverage, it is best for hiding dark circles under eyes, blemishes and evening out blotchiness. Gives a lasting cover.
A liquid concealer gives light, sheer coverage with a natural finish and is easy to apply and blend, however, won’t cover anything too noticeable. Is great for dark circles and some redness on the face, especially the nose and chin areas.
A stick concealer gives a full coverage and blends well. Great for scars and can also be used for redness on the face. Just watch around eyes as can be too heavy, sitting in small lines making them appear larger.
A pencil concealer gives a matte, medium to full coverage with a creamy finish. Is best for quick touch-ups on small blemishes. Not the greatest under eyes as it may drag and look dry on the skin.
A light diffusing liquid gives a translucent coverage that reflects the light. It brightens shadows under the eyes, gives dull skin a glowing appearance, helps fine lines to disappear. It isn't designed to conceal blemishes or redness. It is a light diffuser.
A medicated concealer gives medium to full coverage, with a creamy finish. It covers blemishes while treating them at the same time. Includes ingredients like tea tree oil and arnica which help to heal while covering. For other areas in need of concealing like dark circles or discolouration use the appropriate concealer.
It is important to choose the right colour for the job, if you don’t it will draw attention to what you are trying to minimise or hide. Sometimes you may need to mix two or more shades to get the right one for your skin tone.
NEUTRALIZING colour you want to hide, rather than cover. For example, for red skin or sunburn use a green neutralizer on the skin then apply foundation over the top, of the green colour. Other neutralising colours to look out for.
Orange neutralizes Blue
Green neutralizes Red
Violet neutralizes Yellow
For blemishes or scars, you’ll need to match the colour of your skin tone, surrounding the blemish or scar so that what you are covering disappears into your skin tone. On any blemish, that is raised you will only be able to minimise the colour, not the shape.
For shadows under the eyes, use half a shade lighter, no more or it will draw attention, not hide the
shadow.
For raised marks try to use half shade darker or match skin tone making the blemish recede. Using light concealer will only highlight the blemish, making it more noticeable.
